Upcoming Lecture Series: Women in Prophetic Ḥadīths – Between Revelation and Social Contexts

We invite you to take part in an insightful lecture series offered by Al-Mujadilah Center and Mosque for Women, exploring a curated selection of prophetic Ḥadīths that address the roles of women—their moral traits, critical faculties, and behaviors in personal and social contexts—as well as their capabilities in managing life’s affairs.

Led by Dr. Mutaz Al-Khatib, Director of the Master’s Program in Applied Islamic Ethics at the College of Islamic Studies, Hamad Bin Khalifa University, this program offers a unique blend of narrative and analytical approaches to Ḥadīth compilations. Dr. Al-Khatib presents a methodological reading that integrates the general with the specific, the text with its context, and investigates how interpretive frameworks are shaped by readers’ perspectives and evolving social realities.

This series moves beyond polarized interpretations—whether idealizing or critiquing the portrayal of women in Ḥadīth literature—and instead offers a grounded, comprehensive analysis of prophetic discourse. Through this lens, participants will examine the dynamic interaction between revelation and history, and how interpretations have been influenced by changing social customs over time.

 Dates: April 23 – June 4, 2025
Time: Every Wednesday | 6:00 PM – 7:30 PM (Doha time)
